Company: Retropolitan
My Role: Marketing Consultant
Timeframe: 02/23 - 08/23

Overview:

Retropolitan is a cannabis brand with a retro flair and modern sensibility. I was brought in to fine-tune the brand’s foundation—from its visual identity to its strategic direction—to prepare it for long-term market success. This included solidifying brand design elements, building sales tools, and crafting a scalable roadmap for growth.

The Challenge:

Retropolitan had a unique concept but needed refinement and structure across both visual and operational fronts. Without clearly defined brand guidelines, a cohesive product plan, or a solid sales strategy, the brand was unable to fully capture its market potential. My role was to bring focus and functionality to the creative vision.

The Strategy and Execution:
  • Enhanced brand architecture and visual design to align with the brand’s vintage-meets-modern positioning.

  • Authored detailed brand guidelines, ensuring consistency across packaging, digital assets, and retail touchpoints.

  • Developed a strategic sales plan tailored to retail partners and distribution opportunities.

  • Identified and engaged new vendor relationships to improve product margins and operational efficiency.

  • Built a future-facing product roadmap to guide phased innovation and ensure alignment with customer demand and regulatory pathways.

The Results:
  1. Delivered a refined brand identity and visual toolkit to support scalable creative output.

  2. Built internal systems and materials to support streamlined sales outreach and onboarding.

  3. Improved vendor relationships and pricing models to strengthen profitability and operational agility.

  4. Equipped the team with a clear roadmap for future product launches, setting the stage for strategic growth.

Final Thoughts and Next Steps:

With Retropolitan, I helped evolve a bold concept into a market-ready brand by bridging creative vision with strategic execution. The work laid essential groundwork for meaningful expansion, retail partnerships, and lasting brand equity.
